Most American citizens living, studying, and/or working outside of the United States are eligible to participate in federal elections via absentee ballot.
American citizens may also be eligible to participate in state primaries, local elections (for township trustees, mayors, county officials, etc.) and special elections (when an elected official vacates his/her office for any number of reasons). It is imperative to request your absentee ballot well in advance of the election in which you intend to vote in order to ensure your voice is heard.
If you’re already outside of the United States and haven’t registered to vote, don’t worry — you can register from abroad too!
